MONTES AUTO SPA · AUTOMOTIVE WINDOW TINT
Old, purple, bubbling, or too-dark tint removed cleanly—then re-tinted with HITEK film if you want it.
OUT WITH THE OLD
Cheap window film does not age well. The dyes fade and turn purple, the adhesive fails and bubbles, and the glass starts to look cloudy. Sometimes the problem is the shade: a previous owner put on film that is too dark for Ohio’s front windows, and now it is a ticket waiting to happen.
Whatever the reason, removal is a job worth doing carefully. Rushing it can leave glue all over the glass, and scraping the wrong way can damage the rear defroster lines. Jr. takes his time so the glass comes out clean and ready for new film.
WHAT WE REMOVE
Most removal jobs fall into a few groups. Tell Jr. which one sounds like yours when you text for a quote, and send a photo if you can.
ADHESIVE CLEANUP
Taking off the film is only half the job. Old tint leaves adhesive behind, and that glue has to come off completely before new film can go on. We clean every window until it is smooth and clear. On rear glass, we work carefully around the defroster lines so they keep working.
START FRESH
Once the glass is clean, you can re-tint the same day or another time. Most people choose to re-tint right away with HITEK Carbon IR, Ceramic IR, or Ceramic Ultra. If your old front film was too dark, Jr. will help you pick a front shade that reads 50% or lighter through the glass and film combined, and 70% film is the safe choice.
